Although Grotto opened its doors more than 35 years ago the story begins much earlier. One of four boys growing up in Brooklyn, owner Michael discovered his love and appreciation of food when he was young.  Family gatherings centered around food with recipes that were handed down from generation to generation. Sitting with his brothers watching his Aunts' and Uncle cook was always special.  Adding his own flare with strong influences from his family he has reached a point where he calls his pizza " perfect" and the New York Daily News agrees. 

A signature in the Financial District, The Grotto staff knows customers by name and always remembers their orders.

“When people find us, we keep them,” Michael said.
